Computer Weekly reports the National Association of Local Councils is asking the U.K. government to help fund councils as they work to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation. In a letter to Digital Minister Matt Hancock, NALC Chair Sue Baxter said local councils are facing a high financial burden as they prepare for the GDPR and the Data Protection Bill. While the NALC supports the Data Protection Bill, Baxter said in the letter it is important for the government to understand how both the bill and the GDPR affect the council’s work.
