The Network Advertising Initiative published Precise Location Information Solution Provider Voluntary Enhanced Standards, a self-regulatory scheme focused on limiting practices around location data that connects to individuals' sensitive movements and visits. The NAI said the standards aim to cover points of interest like "places tied to religious worship, sensitive healthcare services, military bases, LGBTQ+ identity, and other places." Additionally, the standards place purpose limitations on use, sale or transfer of precise location data to law enforcement and national security agencies. Cuebiq, Foursquare and Precisely's PlaceIQ have already adopted the standards.
