German members of European Parliament came out against strength of measures included in the U.S. executive order to stand up the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, Netzpolitik reports. MEP Birgit Sippel said the new measures are a sign of progress to address national security issues previously cited by the Court of Justice of the European Union, but "further legislative measures in the (U.S.)" will be necessary. MEPs Alexandra Geese and Moritz Körner were more blunt with their criticism, with Geese calling the measures "just empty words" and Körner likening the U.S. order to "old wine in new bottles."
