Speaking to CNBC at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Mastercard Vice Chairman Ann Cairns said that while there is a rapid pace toward the internet of things, the key to its development will be to include everyone in its growth. Cairns said, “You have to start focusing on how does the human get involved, and that’s going to be through having a digital identity.” As she explained, this will be achieved through combining data “from lots of different sources and recombine it to create your digital identity so that you can operate … anywhere that you are on the planet.”
