A coalition of technology and publishing companies is asking the U.K.’s Competition and Markets Authority to delay the release of Google’s “Privacy Sandbox” initiative, Tech Crunch reports. Google’s plan to phase out third-party cookies is expected to launch in 2021 but in its complaint, the coalition said, “Google is threatening the open web model that is vital to the functioning of a free and competitive media and online economy.” The CMA said it will decide whether to open a formal investigation under the Competition Act.
