The Good Guys, Australia’s second-largest appliance chain, announced it would temporarily halt a trial of facial recognition technology in stores, Reuters reports. The move to pause the trial in two Melbourne stores came on the heels of consumer advocacy group CHOICE filing a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. The Good Guys said it would wait until the OAIC made a ruling on the tech. However, Bunnings, Australia’s largest home improvement chain, and Kmart Australia have continued to use facial recognition, according to the complaint.
