The Maine House of Representatives voted to support a bill that would prohibit internet service providers from selling customers’ personal data without their consent, the Portland Press Herald reports. The House action comes after the state Senate also voted to approve the bill. The House amended the rules to delay its implementation to July 1, 2020, to give ISPs more time to prepare for the law. After the amended law is accepted by the Senate, the bill will go through the entire Legislature before it heads to the desk of Gov. Janet Mills, D-Maine. Meanwhile, the Oregon State Legislature passed amendments to its data breach notification rules. (Registration may be required to access this story.)
