As part of a collaborative blockchain program, a consortium of 14 Indian life insurers, partnered with Cognizant, announced a blockchain solution to facilitate cross-company data sharing, EconoTimes reports. The solution, which is built on R3’s distributed ledger platform and hosted on Microsoft’s Azure platform, is designed to reduce reliance on data intermediaries and aggregators in obtaining customer and policy details. Arun Baid, Cognizant’s global delivery head for insurance, said, "As a shared source of truth, blockchain opens numerous possibilities for insurers to collaborate more effectively and transparently, make better informed decisions, and create greater trust and accountability, while disintermediating data aggregators."
