The Globe and Mail reports the Liberal Party of Canada is under fire for its use of facial recognition technology to verify voter identities in candidate nomination elections. British Columbia Information and Privacy Commissioner Michael McEvoy said the questions at hand are whether the collection and use of biometric data was done appropriately according to provincial privacy law. In addition to a provincial investigation, Canada's New Democratic Party asked Privacy Commissioner of Canada Daniel Therrien to open an investigation.
