In a report for Boston Bar Journal, General Electric CPO Peter Lefkowitz, CIPP/US, writes that for all its potential, “our shared late-night admission is that none of us has a well-defined picture what, precisely, the Internet of Things (IoT) is or does.” Lefkowitz goes on to describe the IoT and the questions that surround it. The IoT marketplace “will continue to expand, and the product and service landscape will advance rapidly. Whether we will see more than $10 trillion dollars of annual economic impact has yet to be determined,” he writes, adding, “In this fast-moving environment, companies considering investment in the Internet of Things and Big Data and the attorneys who advise them would be well served to monitor the evolving regulatory and legislative landscape.”
