Euractiv reports Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Ulrich Kelber called out the German government for alleged lapses in data protection measures and considerations. In particular, Kelber claims the Ministry of Health had not consistently discussed data protection being at risk when drafting legislation, including the Digital Healthcare Act. Kelber also discussed the need for a transparency law to pair with the Freedom of Information Act and proper supervision of Germany's COVID-19 contact-tracing app.
