Israel's Ministry of Justice announced its approval of promotions to update the country's Privacy Protection Law. The amendments include "significant administrative enforcement powers" to Israel's data protection authority, the Privacy Protection Authority, updating technological and social definitions, and reducing the "bureaucratic burden" on organizations' obligation to register databases. The approval comes during a rise in data breaches, including the ransom attack on Israel web host Cyberserve.
