The U.S. Internal Revenue Service is offering a $500,000 grant for software that can track privacy-focused cryptocurrency transactions, ZDNet reports. The Criminal Investigation department announced it is soliciting proposals, with a deadline of Sept. 16. Contractors will be given eight months to work on the software, with a further $125,000 awarded when it is deployed. “Currently, there are limited investigative resources for tracing transactions involving privacy cryptocurrency coins” or other “off-chain transactions that provide privacy to illicit actors,” the IRS said.
