The Irish Supreme Court dismissed an appeal from Facebook in the Max Schrems case, The Irish Times reports. After the High Court decided to refer issues over the European Commission’s decision to approve standard contractual clauses to the Court of Justice of the European Union, Facebook sought to appeal the move. Chief Justice Frank Clarke said the court cannot honor an appeal against the High Court’s right to make a reference or against the terms of a reference. “It is good to see that the Supreme Court has not followed Facebook’s arguments that were in total denial of all existing findings so far,” Schrems said in a statement. “We are now looking forward to the hearing at the Court of Justice in Luxembourg next month.” Meanwhile, a San Francisco federal judge ruled he will not dismiss lawsuits against Facebook over Cambridge Analytica.
