In the ongoing legal battle between Facebook and privacy advocate Max Schrems, both sides are voicing their displeasure with a decision made by Irish Data Protection Commissioner Helen Dixon, The Irish Times reports. Dixon wants the Court of Justice of the European Union to investigate the legality of Standard Contractual Clauses, an alternative method for organizations to legally transfer data across the Atlantic. The legal teams for both Facebook and Schrems are displeased with the DPC for going to the CJEU before the national regulator has issued its own opinion on SCCs. "In a rare moment of agreement, counsel for Facebook and Mr. Schrems accuse the DPC of putting the cart before the horse," the report states, later adding, "Both sides say the DPC has left them in the dark over evidence and strategy of its investigation."
