The U.S. Federal Trade Commission is all but settled on its intentions to draft privacy and data security rules using rulemaking authority under Section 18 of the FTC Act. That much was made clear when the FTC pre-filed for an Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that will commence February 2022 with a revised rulemaking process to follow. To better understand the FTC's road ahead, the IAPP published an infographic detailing the steps the commission will need to follow in its efforts to create and adopt new rules.
