CSO reports on incoming Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) General Manager Stephen W. Orfei, his background and plans for the organization. “The council is leading a critical fight,” he said, adding, “we are taking on the hackers who have taken aim at our way of life and at our financial system.” Orfei said PCI SSC will “expand our focus on standards” with studies on tokenization, mobile and the cloud. He wants to “improve our collaboration across industries and sectors” including the need to “work together with merchants, acquirers, financial institutions and law enforcement,” and he plans to expand the organization’s global reach, specifically citing upcoming meetings in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
