Adweek reports on complaints filed with the Irish Data Protection Commission and the U.K. Information Commissioner’s Office for an alleged ongoing data breach. Citing a comprehensive study into the ad tech sector’s use of personal information, Brave’s Johnny Ryan told Adweek, “The IAB’s consent proposals [for handling and processing consumers’ personal data] is an honor system, but GDPR clearly states that you trust no one.” Interactive Advertising Bureau Europe CEO Townsend Feehan said the complaints against the sector represented “a fundamental misunderstanding.” Either a progress report or resolution must be produced within three months of the original filing.
