Hong Kong Privacy Commissioner Ada Chung said adding the ability to track users’ locations with the LeaveHomeSafe application is not a violation of the privacy law, the Standard reports. The app allows citizens scan a QR code when they visit a number of public venues for COVID-19 contact tracing. If the real-time location feature is added, the terms and conditions of the app will need to be modified to inform users their data will be used by the Centre for Health Protection.
