Following the release of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of the National Coordinator’s information-blocking proposal last month, concerns have been raised over the need to connect cybersecurity and privacy standards to government policies, HealthITSecurity reports. One organization raising issue with the proposal is the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, which sent a list of recommendations to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, asking that the committee "ensure the implementation of stringent privacy and security standards" as it works to address interoperability and data sharing. Health care organizations can respond to HHS’s information-blocking proposal until early May.
