The Department of Defense (DoD), Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and General Services Administration have awarded a $133.3-million contract to Identity Theft Guard Solutions to provide personal data protection services to the 21.5 million victims of the second OPM hack, GovExec reports. The contract is part of a larger $500-million Blanket Purchase Agreement for responding to the devastating data breach and potential future breaches stemming from the hack. Unlike the response to the first hack, the DoD—and not the contractor—will notify victims, and the Pentagon will cover the contract cost. Acting OPM Director Beth Cobert said notifications would not go out until the “end of the month.”
