The Verge reports Google launched new "trust tokens" for developers to track users online. The tokens are Google's first attempt at an alternative to third-party cookies, which will be phased out by 2022. The new means for tracking takes an anonymized approach to authenticate users, while the tokens simply show developers whether a website visitor is real. Additionally, Google announced changes to its transparency practices in regard to explaining targeted advertising and personal data collection.
