After Google initially announced its new messaging app Allo would only temporarily store messages, the tech company has retracted the feature upon its launch, The Verge reports. Users will now have to actively delete any messages not sent through Allo’s end-to-end encrypted Incognito mode. Google said the change was designed to help the app’s smart reply feature. Messages sent on Allo will remain encrypted between the user’s device and Google servers, and will be stored on servers using encryption accessible to Google’s algorithms. The change also leaves Allo messages open to law enforcement requests, according to the report.
