A Federal Trade Commission representative spoke in front of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation detailing the agency’s efforts to combat robocalls. FTC Division of Marketing Practices Associate Director Lois Greisman testified on the different tools the agency has used to protect consumers from robocalls and the enforcement actions it has taken to penalize any violators. The testimony also included information on the FTC’s work to understand the sources of the illegal robocalls and potential ways to develop technological solutions to combat the problem, including the agency’s new National Do Not Call Registry Data Book.
