Anthony Gardner has joined the law firm Sidley Austin as a senior counsel and will be a member of the firm’s international trade and privacy and cybersecurity practices, Multichannel News reports. Previously, Gardner was the U.S. ambassador to the European Union and was among those who worked on creating the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield for international data transfers. Gardner will be based both in London and Brussels. Before his role as the U.S. ambassador to the EU, Gardner was the managing director for private equity firm Palamon Capital Partners and also served as the director for European affairs on the U.S. National Security Council.
