Former U.K. Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg will lead Facebook’s global affairs and communications team, Reuters reports. The appointment comes amid public criticism for the company’s privacy scandals and concerns related to its part in election meddling. Clegg will fill the position left vacant following Elliot Schrage stepping down in June after 10 years with the company. Facebook has confirmed Schrage will be an adviser. Clegg, who served under Prime Minister David Cameron, will be the most senior European politician to have a role in Silicon Valley.
