According to The Hollywood Reporter, a Massachusetts federal judge ruled that an Internal Revenue Service agent who inadvertently broadcasted a conversation while on the “Howard Stern Show” was not “sufficiently personal or intimate in nature.” The woman involved in the conversation claimed the incident was an invasion of privacy and filed lawsuits against both the “Howard Stern Show” and the U.S. government for negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and the unlawful disclosure of tax information. In her opinion, U.S. District Court Judge Allison Burroughs wrote, “Plaintiff has not plausibly alleged an unreasonable, substantial, or serious intrusion into highly personal information,” adding that the disclosed tax information was “imprecise and only roughly identifiable with a particular individual.”
