In court papers filed to the Northern District of California, Facebook has called for the dismissal of lawsuits stemming from the Cambridge Analytica revelations, MarketWatch reports. In the dismissal notice, Facebook alleges users did not suffer “an actual or imminent real-world injury.” The tech company states there has been “no actionable identity theft, emotional distress, or economic injury” and that targeted ads did not constitute harm. A pair of plaintiffs in the more than 25 consolidated federal suits claims, however, they found their personal information had been sold on the dark web, while others have faced phishing attempts as a result of the breach.
