The sensitive personal information of thousands of California state employees was downloaded by a former coworker, The Associated Press reports. The information included the Social Security numbers of Department of Fish and Wildlife and California Wildlife Conservation Board employees who were employed in 2007 and the personal information of vendors who worked with the two groups between 2007 and 2010. The California Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation, while the Department of Fish and Wildlife said in a memo the information was not downloaded for malicious purposes.
