Michigan lawmakers say a change to state law or policy is needed after learning Michigan state police officials downloaded the encrypted Signal application on their state-issued phones, Government Technology reports. State Sen. Jeremy Moss, D-Southfield, said messages should be subject to “retention and disclosure” at a later date. A Department of Technology, Management and Budget spokesperson said it is unknown how many employees and of what agencies are using the Signal app.
