In reply to a request by the Belgian Data Protection Authority, the European Data Protection Board offered an opinion on the cooperation between the ePrivacy Directive and the EU General Data Protection Regulation. The EDPB examined the relevant sections of the ePrivacy Directive and the GDPR to show how the two rules coexist. Additionally, the opinion outlines the role of DPAs and discusses whether the use of cooperation and consistency mechanisms should be applied to data processing that triggers the material scope of both laws.
