- The European Data Protection Board adopted a statement on data transfer agreements between EU member states and third countries. The EDPB tells member states all data transfer agreements made before May 2016 should remain intact as stated within the provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the Law Enforcement Directive, but the EDPB invites member states to assess and, where necessary, review those agreements.
- The EDPB also published its guidelines on the application of Article 65(1)(a) of the GDPR.
- European Data Protection Supervisor Wojciech Wiewiórowski released his office's 2020 Annual Report. The report covered the main activities the EDPS performed in 2020, including the establishment of its internal COVID-19 task force, issuing opinions on the European strategy for data, artificial intelligence and proposed derogations for the ePrivacy Directive.
