The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean will review data protection laws in select Caribbean countries to assess how they align with the EU General Data Protection Regulation, the Jamaica Observer reports. ECLAC said a study will be published in the coming months that will make recommendations on cross-border data transfers, public and private sector information sharing, effective enforcement of data protection laws and more.
