The Authority for Consumers and Markets is launching a new campaign designed to help inform consumers about protecting their privacy online, Telecompaper reports. The Dutch regulator’s Consuwijzer service will offer tips to consumers, including regularly deleting cookies, adjusting app settings and restricting information sharing. The ACM emphasized while apps may be free, users need to be aware of the data gathered by the apps through cookies. The agency also told the 100 largest websites in the past year to clearly explain how they use cookies, and ensuring they ask for permission before placing them on a user’s device.
