Data collected by cybersecurity firm Kaspersky found cyberattacks on Internet-of-Things devices have doubled so far this year compared to the second half of 2020, InfoSecurity Magazine reports. In the first half of 2021, there were 1.5 billion attacks, compared to 639 million in the last six months of 2020. “Since IoT devices, from smartwatches to smart home accessories, have become an essential part of our everyday lives, cybercriminals have skillfully switched their attention to this area,” Kaspersky Security Researcher Dan Demeter said.
