Civil liberties advocates are calling for Amazon to end its Ring home surveillance partnerships with law enforcement agencies, Stateline reports. Fight for the Future Deputy Director Evan Greer said the camera registries, which can include addresses, camera placement and contact information, “exacerbate existing forms of discrimination that are rampant within policing and the criminal justice system.” Northwestern University Associate Law Professor Matthew Kugler said camera registries and facial recognition can be a useful tool when used correctly.
