According to the Pakistan Computer Emergency Response Team, a monitoring group, a massive skimming operation took details from nearly 20,000 debit and credit cards from 22 Pakistani banks, Reuters reports. The State Bank of Pakistan had already instructed banks to increase their watch after a problem was reported last week but had said the banks themselves were not hacked. Mohammad Shoaib, head of the Federal Investigation Agency’s cybercrime unit, said “almost all” banks had been hit by the operation and that a “large amount of money” had been stolen.
