Spanish artist and digital researcher Joana Moll calculated the carbon footprint of browsing cookies on the 1 million most-visited websites. Together with a team of researchers at Barcelona University’s Supercomputing Center, they developed the Carbolytics project, which is a visual representation of the advertising technology infrastructure. IAPP Staff Writer Alex LaCasse interviewed Moll, who discussed the underreported carbon cost of the adtech industry.
