Canada’s privacy commissioner will audit the federal government following the disclosure the Public Health Agency of Canada secretly monitored the movement of 33 million citizens’ devices, True North reports. PHAC claimed the surveillance was utilized to track the success of COVID-19 prevention measures and individuals’ data had been deidentified. Ontario’s former privacy commissioner Ann Cavoukian previously told True North she had “zero trust” in the government’s assurances that citizens' data has been adequately deidentified.
