In an interview with The Australian Financial Review, Australia Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus said he intends to carry out "sweeping reforms" for the country's Privacy Act of 1988. Dreyfus said the current regulatory framework "is out of date and in need of reform for the digital age." He said his office has draft amendments prepared stemming from a review of the Privacy Act published in January and a final report on potential amendments will go through "a proper debate in coming months."
