The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled to revive a class-action lawsuit against Zappos regarding the 2012 data breach it suffered affecting 24 million customers, MediaPost reports. The court shot down Zappos' argument stating customers failed to establish they suffered any injuries as a result of the breach. "Plaintiffs allege that the type of information accessed in the Zappos breach can be used to commit identity theft, including by placing them at higher risk of 'phishing' and 'pharming,' which are ways for hackers to exploit information they already have," the judges wrote in their ruling. Meanwhile, Courthouse News reports the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals heard a case where plaintiffs said their privacy rights were violated when their driver's license photos were given to Florida legislators.
