A BAE Systems’ investigation discovered a common link between the $81 million Bangladesh Bank cyber theft and the 2014 hack on Sony Pictures, ZDNet reports. The security firm discovered malware used to attack the Bangladesh Bank and another Vietnamese commercial bank was also used to compromise Sony Pictures, leading BAE to believe the same person or group is responsible for all three attacks. "What initially looked to be an isolated incident at one Asian bank turned out to be part of a wider campaign. This led to the identification of a commercial bank in Vietnam that also appears to have been targeted in a similar fashion using tailored malware, but based off a common code-base," said BAE Systems security researchers Sergei Shevchenko and Adrian Nish in a blog post.
