Canadian Underwriter reports on the effect artificial intelligence and machine learning have had on pre-fill data in the country. Opta Information Intelligence has used its property insurance valuation service over the past 10 years to pre-fill approximately 90% of Canadian business quotes. Opta President Greg McCutcheon said AI and machine learning have helped to make the pre-filled information much more accurate. “We’ve been able to train computers to recognize the type of construction and features about that home by gathering information through imagery,” said McCutcheon, who added the techniques are particularly accurate when powered by data collected in urban areas.
