Coban Technologies announced it has designed a dashcam enabled with artificial intelligence that allows the immediate and automated analysis of video content and can identify a variety of subjects, from people and vehicles to guns, CNN reports. While the dashcam features are currently limited, Sgt. Daniel Gomez, who leads the Los Angeles Police Department's tactical technology section, said his department is testing one of the dashcams: "We want to be on that journey with them to understand where they're going to go, and what they're going to do." The use of AI and facial recognition technology has raised privacy concerns in the past and led the U.S. Government Accountability Office to issue a critical report of the FBI’s current use of the technology.
