A patent has been filed for a television setup that has the ability to see and hear what viewers are doing for the purpose of tailoring advertisements based on the user’s behavior, reports. Filed by Verizon, the patent suggests the system’s tracking abilities could communicate data between the user’s smartphone or tablet and television to observe what websites the viewer is surfing, the report states. According to a report, the “idea crosses the divide between the digital and real worlds to extract information by essentially monitoring people’s behaviors in real life—an intrusion that many people may find extremely uncomfortable.”
