Hong Kong Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data has released a communiqué featuring highlights from the 37th Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities (APPA) forum. Participants, including government representatives from Australia, Canada, Korea, New Zealand and the U.S., discussed topics such as global privacy enforcement, Google's new privacy policy, information on public registers, smartphone apps, legal assistance to aggrieved data subjects and direct marketing regulation. Government representatives from Japan, Macao and Portugal joined the meeting as observers.
