Liz Lyons, CIPP/G
As privacy officer with the Metropolitan Police Department, Liz focuses on technology the MPD deploys for law enforcement needs such as body cameras and CCTV. The MPD is the first police department in the nation to employ a privacy officer. Prior to working for the MPD, Liz worked at the Department of Homeland Security in the compliance and technology groups. Liz was a subject matter expert on privacy issues involving cloud computing and cybersecurity. Before joining DHS, Liz was an attorney in San Francisco, CA and served in the Peace Corps in Lithuania. Liz obtained her B.A. from Georgetown University and her J.D. from the University of San Francisco, School of Law. During law school Liz worked as a legal intern at the Electronic Frontier Foundation and spent a summer studying the UN-backed Cambodia war crimes tribunal. Liz is a member of the Washington, D.C. and California Bar.
