About the IAPP

Giampiero is a Certified Data Protection and Cyber Security professional with a significant customer and regulatory engagement experience, and an international career with global IT brands, including Microsoft, IBM, Cisco, and Accenture.

He is currently Cyber Security Policy Program Coordinator at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the specialised United Nations Agency for Standardisation and ICT Development.

Prior to that he was at Symantec, responsible for Internal Privacy Operations in the Global Privacy Office, as well as for Government Affairs for several EMEA Countries. In this capacity he engaged with customers – namely Legal, Compliance, DPO, CISO, and Risk Management figures - about the legislative characteristics of the GDPR, the business value of privacy compliance, and the way organisations can implement the regulatory mandate into privacy and cyber security technological choices.

Giampiero has an extensive advocacy expertise on privacy matters with Governments Agencies, Data Protection Authorities, Standard Bodies, Think Tanks and Supranational Organisations, including responding to public consultations on relevant themes.

Regular public speaker about cyber security and privacy, he is also author of publications and articles on regulatory compliance – e.g. on Data Breach Notification and its GDPR compliance implications.

Giampiero is an experienced trainer, and is fluent in English, French, Spanish, and Italian.
