About the IAPP

Cherry Pinches is the Global Data Protection Officer for the Arcadia Group Ltd, the UK’s largest fashion retail group with a global presence. She is a passionate leader and great communicator with over a decade’s experience in the field of privacy and data protection.

Cherry successfully designed and delivered Arcadia’s GDPR Readiness Programme and is currently their Global Head of Privacy, responsible for setting strategy and leading their data protection team of ten. She has a legal background with wide-ranging knowledge of international privacy requirements gained from building a global privacy framework from the ground up. Whilst doing so, Cherry completed several certifications and has been recognised by the IAPP as a Fellow of Information Privacy.

Cherry has a consensual leadership style and is driven by bringing people together to realise collective goals and navigate competing priorities. She has established and leads a Business Privacy Forum; empowering members to knowledge share, learn from an array of regulatory strategies and tackle new, uncertain and sometimes conflicting legislation. In-house, she partners cross functionally with Technology, Digital and other departments to support innovation and maximise ethical data use. Cherry has a passion for emerging technologies and conceptual data models which enables her to bridge the traditional ‘technician-privacy’ gap. When not advising on digital transformations or reading ICO guidance, she spends her spare time rock-climbing and going on extreme travel adventures.

Cherry is delighted to be a member of the Women Leading Privacy Advisory Board and is looking forward to leveraging her experience to support and promote women in the profession.
