Matthias Artzt, CIPP/E
Dr. Matthias Artzt, CIPP/E, is a full certified lawyer and a senior legal counsel at Deutsche Bank AG Frankfurt, which he joined in November 1999. Prior to this position, he was counsel at a law firm in Stuttgart.
Dr. Artzt is an expert on data protection law with many years of experience. Dr. Artzt was involved in the implementation of the GDPR within the organization of Deutsche Bank AG and in particular, he managed the repapering of the related vendor service contracts to bring them into compliance GDPR requirements. He advises internal clients globally regarding data protection issues as well as complex international outsourcing agreements involving data privacy related matters and regulations.
He is a graduate of the University of Tübingen/Germany, where he earned his PhD. Moreover, he is a member of IAPP.
Dr. Artzt has already published several articles on data privacy topics. Further, he is a regular panel speaker on various international conferences, seminars and webinars, e.g. at the Central Bank of Brazil in 2018. He has an in-depth knowledge of the GDPR and the interfaces between the GDPR and Cloud Computing, Big Data, AI, Blockchain, US-Cloud Act and PSD2. Dr. Artzt is co-editing and co-authoring the Handbook of Blockchain Law which will be published and launched by Wolters Kluwer early 2020. Therein he is covering the area of data privacy in relation to the Blockchain technology.
